National Anti-Doping Programme

In 2007, Anti-Doping Norway decided to divide Norway into 8 regions and employ one region coordinator per region, part time.

The region coordinator is able to follow-up closely what is happening in his/her region, and consequently, knows what is most needed and in which part of the region, whether it is doping controls, I&E activities, stands at events etc.  The region coordinator has close contact with the central administration and may serve as an intermediary between the administration and the part time employees (DCOs, lecturers etc.) in the region.

In 2009, Anti-Doping Norway ‘s central administration was re-organised to include doping controls, I&E and research activities under the same “department”. The sports were divided between several advisers responsible for both doping controls and I&E activities. This enables to coordinate better the doping control and I&E activities in each sport, so that deterrence and detection activities complement each other efficiently. One adviser is also responsible for following-up all research projects.

A two-day seminar for all full time and part time employees is organised annually to update them on the rules and regulations related to the anti-doping activities. It is an opportunity to exchange information, increase knowledge and not the least, to build up the team spirit and get to know each other better through social activities.
