Meeting with the Russian minister of sports concerning anti-doping
Anti-Doping Norway and WADA were invited to the Russian minister of sports.
Last autumn the Russian anti-doping agency (RUSADA), WADA and Anti-Doping Norway signed a three-year co-operation agreement. The role of Anti-Doping Norway is to assist the Russians in establishing an anti-doping organization, while WADAs role is to assure that international rules and standards are being implemented and lived up to in the program.
Related to meetings in Moscow in May, WADAs Rune Andersen and Anders Solheim in Anti-Doping Norway were invited to the Russian minister of sports, Vitaly Mutko.
-The meeting confirmed that there is an increased focus on anti-doping work and attitudes towards doping in Russia. The Russians are working actively to create an attitude against doping and based on the feedback we are getting through our co-operation, we consider the Russians to have achieved a lot on a relatively short amount of time, says Anders Solheim, Chief Executive Officer of Anti-Doping Norway.
The three-year long co-operation agreement is supported by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with 600 000 NOK.
