Co-operation agreement with the Russian Anti-Doping Agency
Today, Anti-Doping Norway, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) have signed a three-year co-operation agreement.
Anti-Doping Norway shall assist and advice RUSADA in order for them to establish an efficient anti-doping programme in compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code.
- Russia is a broad and important nation. A genuine Russian involvement and contribution in the fight against doping in sport is important to achieve fair and drug-free sport. Anti-Doping Norway has long experience with anti-doping work, on a national and international level. We have a duty to share our knowledge and experience and do it willingly, but it is the Russians who have to do the job, says Anders Solheim, Chief Executive Officer in Anti-Doping Norway.
WADA shall ensure that there is a proper understanding of the code requirements and international standards and that these be implemented in the programme.
- As the independent monitor of the global fight against doping in sport, WADA strongly encourages the implementation of partnerships to develop anti-doping capacities in countries and regions of the world that require assistance. We therefore are pleased that Anti-Doping Norway shares its expertise with other National and Regional Anti-Doping Organizations in various regions of the world, says Rune Andersen, Director of Standards & Harmonization of WADA.
RUSADA was established in May 2008 and has ever since given a lot of importance to international co-operation.
- Cooperation between WADA and Anti-Doping Norway will greatly contribute to the successful development of effective Anti-Doping program in Russia, it will help us to bust and innovate all of the main activity directions of RUSADA including Doping-Control, Communication and Education activities, social and scientific research in the sphere of Anti-Doping, says Viacheslav Sinev, Executive Director of RUSADA.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is supporting this co-operation with 600 000 kr. The agreement period ends on 31 December 2011.
